Three Indonesian Peacekeepers Fall in UNIFIL Mission in Southern Lebanon
Tvkn1.com ll JAKARTA — Three Indonesian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were killed in a series of attacks in southern Lebanon at the end of March 2026. The fallen soldiers are:
•Prajurit Kepala Farizal Rhomadhon, killed on March 29, 2026, by a roadside explosion during a routine patrol in the border area.
•Kapten Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, killed on March 30, 2026, when the UNIFIL base came under artillery fire.
•Sertu Muhammad Nur Ichwan, killed alongside Captain Zulmi in the same incident.
According to official reports, the fatalities resulted from escalating attacks in southern Lebanon, including artillery strikes and explosive devices targeting peacekeeper patrol routes.
President Prabowo Subianto and the Indonesian government strongly condemned the attacks. The government has called for an emergency UN Security Council session and a thorough investigation into the incident. As a mark of respect, the fallen soldiers will receive posthumous promotions for their dedication to international peacekeeping.
Three other Indonesian peacekeepers were injured in the attacks and are receiving medical treatment. UNIFIL stated that attacks on peacekeepers constitute a serious violation of international law and are unacceptable under any circumstances.(Dedy)
